Industry Focus
Rail applications demand fire-retardant, low-smoke cable and connectors meeting EN45545 and other international rail standards. ISG supplies interconnect to OEMs, maintenance depots and system integrators.
Rail interconnect must meet fire safety requirements that go beyond most other industries — because the consequences of cable fire in a confined passenger vehicle are catastrophic.
EN 45545-2 defines the fire performance requirements for materials used in railway rolling stock. Cables and wiring components used in passenger vehicles must meet HL1, HL2 or HL3 hazard level requirements — covering flame spread, heat release, smoke density, smoke toxicity and acidity. Low smoke zero halogen construction is the baseline for most passenger rail applications.
ISG supplies EN45545-certified cable, LSZH heat-shrink, compliant connectors and identification systems to rolling stock OEMs, Tier 1 system integrators and depot maintenance organisations. Our rail-specific stock is held in depth for both new build programmes and maintenance and repair operations.
We maintain awareness of the full range of international rail standards — including EN 50155 for electronic equipment, IEC 60077 for traction systems and the specific national standards applied in major railway markets worldwide.
Cable and wiring component product range certified to EN 45545-2 HL1/HL2/HL3 for passenger vehicle applications.
LSZH constructions producing minimal toxic smoke in a fire event — protecting evacuation routes and emergency responders.
Robust cable constructions and mechanically secure connector systems for the demanding vibration environment of railway rolling stock.
IP67 and IP68 sealed connectors for underframe and exterior applications subject to water ingress, cleaning and track debris.
